Easter Is Coming!

If you are over 10 years-old, I am thinking you have probably been hurt in a relationship that wasn't totally your fault.  You have probably found out, too late, that someone you thought would always be there, 'and have your back', wasn't.  Only to find out, the time when you needed them the most, they turned and walked away.  You have probably had different thoughts associated with that experience.  At first, you were probably hurt, maybe in time, angry.  And if you have skin (as we humans do), there may have been a time when you thought about revenge.  As birthdays have passed, I have come to realize that holding on to that 'grudge' really doesn't hurt anyone but me.

Today is Good Friday.  I can't help thinking about Jesus life, and the days leading up to his death.  One of his trusted friends, denied knowing him.  Not once, but three times (Simon Peter-Jesus said, "I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me" (Luke 23:34, NIV).  Jesus asked his friends (disciples) to pray for him, but when he went back to them, they were sleeping! Jesus said, "Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation" (Luke 22:46, NIV).  Jesus knew of the betrayal of yet another friend (disciple, Judas).  While he was still speaking, a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them.  He approached Jesus to kiss him, but Jesus asked him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss? (Luke 22:47,48, NIV).

As an adult, Good Friday has been a tremendously emotional day.  Over the years, after attending a Good Friday service, my choice was to stay home, isolated from everyone, so that I could just absorb all that He had to endure.  What did He do wrong? How could anyone have tortured Him the way they did? Tears are welling in my eyes now.

Reflect on Jesus life today, and His death.  However, do not be discouraged because Easter is coming.

Stand Strong and Stay Healthy!

Hugs,

Katt
