I woke feeling a little sad this morning. Probably because I no longer have a Mother to wish Happy Mothers Day. Her birthday would have been next week. She loved purple flowers, as do I. I think of her when a new purple bloom opens up in my own yard.
Looking around at the people in my life, I realize there are lots of people just like me. Missing someone special in their life.
I decided this morning before and after the morning Church service to make sure I give all the ladies in our congregation a special hug. Some of them have also lost their mothers, some still have their mothers, and some are too young to be mothers. But each of them needs a hug anyway.
I am hoping you will look around you, and notice how many sad people there are today, because they are missing someone special. It may be a spouse they are missing. It doesn't matter, you need to be the arms of Jesus this morning.
Thank you, I feel your arms around me too.

Caught them!!!!
My mother died fairly young in 1983 but I have a dear aunt that I'm very close to now. Even while we're missing special people, we can be discovering others.
I'm not big on hugging with people I don't know well, but I sure am ready to offer a smile and a quiet word of welcome or encouragement when I see someone new at church, or someone looking uncertain or lonely. The brightness of an unexpected smile can lighten a heavy heart much like the warmth of a hug. There's definitely a place for both in our needy world.
I hope it's turned out to be a Happy Mother's Day for you.
Carol,
I had a fabulous Mothers Day. The Lord has given me so many "Moms" to love. And some who aren't Moms! I'm so blessed!
I am by nature a hugger----or toucher. Especially older people. They crave hugs from anyone---and praise the Lord, He keeps putting them in my life!
Hope you had a fabulous Mothers Day too! I would hug you----
Love you
Katt
