ATTITUDE

Martha Washington said, "I've learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not our circumstances."
I talked with someone a few days ago, who because of a few bad choices she made has never forgiven herself. Exodus 10:17 Now forgive my sin once more.......
I've talked with so many people over the years who tell me they asked the Lord for forgiveness, felt forgiven, but still carry the guilt around with them everyday.
Another person said, "it's hard, sometimes impossible to forget what I've done."
I agree. It's so easy to replay that scenario over and over. And that's exactly what the enemy wants us to do. Continue to punish ourselves for mistakes we have made.
When someone shared with me her mistakes, I offered, "I'm glad you shared that with me. I wondered who the ONE person was who did that."
We all make mistakes. We have skin. We are human. Many times we don't have control over what happens in our lives. However, we do have control over our attitude. It's not necessary to let everyone you encounter during the day know exactly how miserable you are. We can choose to be miserable or we can choose joy.
I choose JOY.

That Martha Washington was one smart woman! Our attitudes play such a huge part in how we deal with life, and not just in relationships. Doctors tell us attitude affects health and healing, too.

I'm with you in deciding to choose joy. I loved Ann Voskamp's book, 1000 GIFTS. Looking "on the bright side", searching for even small blessings within every circumstance, little things for which we can be thankful every day, develops joy.

The older I get the more I realize how important our attitude is. In addition to health benefits, as you pointed out, it just makes us feel better. When I wake up and look outside, I never "see" rain clouds. The sun is still there, just hidden for a moment.
Thanks for your input....I love hearing from you!
