JUST CALL JEAN

Her voice wavered as she spoke, "You know I love "Rose" (not her real name) with all my heart. But when I talk to her she leaves me feeling depressed."
It seems whenever my friend talks to "Rose" the only thing "Rose" wants to talk about is how bad off she is, what a victim of "life" she is. 
My friend went on to say after I call "Rose" I have to call "Jean" (not her real name either) just to make me feel better.
I hope I'm not the "Rose" in any one's life. However, I can see how it would be easy to fall into that way of thinking. Especially when things, life, goes the way it sometimes does.
I read a quote by Maya Angelou, 'I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.'
I've found that is so true in my own life.
My goal is to be like "Jean", and leave them feeling better.

I've done this. In fact, it's my aunt's BD today and I hesitate to call (but I will) because when I hang up I feel like sticking my head in the toilet. I better call her right now. It's her 91st BD for heaven sake's. Maybe she deserves to be miserable.

There are some people I bypass at church because I know I'm going to feel depressed after a conversation... and that's so unkind of me. My solution is sometimes to forewarn my hubby and ask him to give me two or three minutes in the conversation and then please come and extricate me.

You'll never be one of those kind of people, Katt! You're so compassionate, plus I think you must have way more patience than I'll ever have.

I laughed when I first read your comment, and I'm laughing now! You are too funny. Sometimes I laugh at "them" too when I hear them carry on, or when I hear other people tell me about "them". I hope I never become one of "them".
