I'm Afraid of What's Ahead

Another lightning bolt lit up the gray sky. I walked to the window peering outside at the bushes now leaning over under the pelting rain and wind.
I love watching a storm, from inside. Where it's safe and warm.
A few days ago a friend shared with me some of the "storms" going on in her life. Sitting from my perspective I am safe and warm. From where she is sitting, she is in the middle of the rain, the wind and the lightning. Which appears to be striking all around her.
Through her tears she shared, "I'm afraid of what's ahead. It seems like this storm just continues."
While she shared, I thought of Job. How the Lord knew no matter what happened to Job, Job would remain faithful to Him.
I tried to offer some comfort to my friend.
However, she is the one who gave me comfort that day.
She said, "when I'm at my worst, when the storm seems to be overtaking me, I pray for others. And when I feel totally lost, I read Psalm 91.  The verse that stood out to me from Psalm 91 is verse 4. Psalm 91:4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge;
After the storm I noticed several little birds huddled together under a bush in the back yard. And under His wings you shall take refuge.

I love that verse! It reminds me of one of my hubby's favourite sayings, that "We don't know what our future holds, but we know Who holds our future." Wonderful reassurance!

Such a beautiful illustration of life! Our Lord has us covered but we still must go through the storm!

Thanks for your comments Deb. The beauty of the "storms" is that we never have to go through any of them alone. God always puts people in our lives when we need them.
By the way, you are one of them in my life. Thank you my friend!
