LOVELIGHT

When I was a little girl I thought my grandmother was the Esther Price of the candy world. In case you don't live in Ohio, Esther Price makes the best candy in the world. I think the "home" office/factory is still in Dayton, Ohio.
Grandma and my Great Aunt Helen spent an entire day in the kitchen making "dipped" chocolate drops. They spent hours mixing the creamy center, rolling them, by hand, into little balls and then dipping them in the melted chocolate. After this process they placed them on round trays and stored them in an unheated bedroom upstairs just weeks before Christmas.
Grandma didn't tell me Aunt Helen was coming for the day, she wanted to surprise me with the candy. However, I was not allowed to "sample" it before Christmas.
From my perspective I didn't quite understand how Grandma knew I had been "in that bedroom". How did she know "one piece of candy" was missing?
Grandma turned on her "lovelight". Don't bother looking that word up, because as far as I'm know....it isn't a word. It's one I made up to describe Grandma. Her love used to shine through the light of Jesus.
I was reminded of Grandma's "lovelight" this morning when I baked chocolate chip cookies for a friend who had surgery yesterday. Chocolate chip cookies seem to be my "lovelight".
What's yours?

Love this, Katt! I think chocolate chip cookies might be mine too. They are my go to treat I bake for all sorts of occasions.

Blessings,
Karen
