THAT'S THE BEST NEWS EVER

The Pastor sent me an email about a golfer who just played in a PGA tournament. With his winnings in his hand a lady approached him and said,"I have a dying baby." Upon hearing her plight he didn't hesitate to sign over the check to her, hoping she could "buy" some happiness and peace before her child died.
Later in the clubhouse some of his friends gathered around him and said, "you know that lady?" He nodded. "She has no dying baby."
He pushed back in his chair and said, "no dying baby? That's the best news ever."
I wonder how many of us would have reacted like that? Or would our human side surface and we would have wanted to track her down.
Matthew 6:3,4 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.
The golfer gave her all his winnings that day, in good faith. She however, did a bad thing. It's not up to us to judge her. I like to call it an observation rather than a judgment.
2 Corinthians 9:7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

I found it very interestng and thought I would like to have that very same positive attitude. God is good all the time and all the time God is good.

Char,
I would hope I could have that attitude too. BTW, you do have that attitude my sister!

I love this. He did the righteous thing. Yes!

That's what I've been trying to say for years. Once you give a gift it's no longer yours.

Joy,
Don't you think that's a hard lesson though? You give it away because you want them to have it, but then..... ha ha!

It is hard, but relinquishing it as your own gets easier with time. Now, it is easy. But I have to laugh at family members and friends when they give their grown children something then want to influence them over what or how they deal with their new gift. LOL. It gets easier.

I've gotten so good at this, I don't even ask any longer "What'd ya do with my mother's rings?"

If they melted them down and made ornaments for their toes, that's their business. LOL.

Joylene,
I'm laughing out loud! "melt them down for ornaments....." too funny. I know someone who gave someone else a sweeper because she always complained about the one she had, too heavy. When they visited the next time, they asked about the sweeper. She had given it away! ha ha-------
It's not hard for me any more either----
