THE GATEKEEPER

The Reverend Leland K. Crist delivered a powerful message last night. In fact, he gave me a "new tool for my Spiritual Toolbox."
His message, in essence was that we have done a pretty good job with the "outside" of our lives, but what about your "inward thoughts."
I sat back on the pew and took a deep breath. My inward thoughts. Hmmmm.
How many times, when someone hurts my feelings do I replay that "record" in my head? Sometimes, over and over and over again. Not letting go of those thoughts keeps the Lord for truly working in my life. How can HE come into my thoughts if I am torturing myself by words that were spoken. Maybe last week, or maybe last year. It doesn't matter. Let it go.
Conjure up a new image in your mind. Jesus, as the Gatekeeper, filtering all those thoughts that continue swirling inside your head.
I remember thinking last night, "oh, Satan's not gonna like this message."
Last night I slept like a baby. I've never felt more at peace with myself or the Lord. Whenever thoughts pop into my head, I imagine Jesus there, HIS arms wide open, filtering only the messages he wants me to replay.
My prayer for you today is you invite Jesus to be your "Gatekeeper" too.
Let me know how it worked in your life.
I am also reminded of Jesus words.
Matthew 25:21His Lord said to him "Well done, good and faithful servant;you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.

That's why I love hanging out with positive people because their light shines so brightly and I have no need or time to think bad thoughts. There are a few people in my life that I love, but being with them is so depressing. I feel very sad for them. If they had computers, I'd introduce them to your shining light. Amen.

Great Post. It really is a good idea to look at Jesus like the Gatekeeper. We let so many thoughts in that only discourage our walk. Thanks for the great post.

Katt,

Excellent post! I do like to think of God as the Gatekeeper. That's a great analogy.

Good thought, Kat! Negative thoughts do not do us any good, altho I fight them all the time.
Blessings for sharing.

Edwina,
Me too, now. Why didn't I ever think of that analogy before? I can't tell you the amount of peace that has come into my heart since I started "letting" Jesus be the Gatekeeper.
