PERFECT PRESENTS

I hopped on one foot, closed the door with the other, behind me. He wasn't home yet so I had to hurry. For whatever reason I've put off Christmas shopping for my husband this year. Part of the reason, he's normally with me.
I was so excited as I picked each gift, one at a time, thinking why he would think I had selected the perfect gift, just for him.
I sat on the floor, tape, scissors and paper, ready to wrap. Christmas carols were softly playing in the background and Meko was sitting on the floor, hoping maybe inside one of those bags would be a treat for him.

I wrapped the presents, stacked them under the tree and sat back sipping a glass of egg nog. The dogs heard him first. I rushed to the door and said, "come quick, you have to look under the tree. You have some surprises. Aren't you excited?"
He smiled, but didn't seem all that enthused.
He pulled off his ball cap, scratched his head, "who are all those presents for?"
"You, of course." I smiled, "Santa thought you were a good boy this year."
He shook his head.
I said, "Honey, there can't be more than five hundred dollars under there."
I thought his head would blow off. "Five hundred dollars? You've got to be kidding."
"I meant to say, fifty." I said.
Knowing he always tries to out do me. I can't wait to see what he comes up with this year.
He always stops on Christmas Eve at the pawn shop, on his way home from the golf course.
I bet I'm in for a surprise this year too.

Surprises are fun:) Thanks for stopping by the blog today. It's good to see you, Katt. Haven't been making my usual rounds as much, but hoping to get back and see all my friends. This seemed a logical place to start today!
Blessings,
Karen

Children's eyes are bright with excitement and expectation on Christmas morning, but for me there is always more joy in the giving than in any receiving. I know what you mean about the fun of looking for gifts that are just right, and waiting with bated breath as the recipient opens them, watching and hoping for an expression of delighted pleasure. My husband and I don't give big gifts at Christmas or Birthdays, so the challenge is to find a thoughtful token that is "just right".

Wishing many just right moments for you and your dear ones this Christmas...

Karen, I haven't been able to make my rounds either. I've missed you. So good to see your smiling face, my friend.
Merry Christmas to you!

Carol, my husband says I'm "like a little girl." I do get so excited, watching other people open gifts.
We don't spend much at Christmas either. A book, or maybe golf tees. Hope he doesn't read this blog.:D
It's more about being with friends and family, and celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.
Hope yours is very blessed.
Hugs to you my sweet friend

Hi Katt -

What fun! I love surprises too.

Life interrupted my usual blog rounds, but things are calming down a bit. :)

Merry Christmas,
Susan

Susan, I know what you mean about life! I have lost all my email contacts thanks to a hacker last week. I wanted to let you know I used your comment (and your name) about Joy in my previous blog. You inspired me so much I wrote a blog about you---
Have a Merry Christmas my friend
Love you
Katt

When my DH wasn't home, I confess, I lifted my present. It's very heavy! And big. I think it may be one of those Kitchen Aid Mix Masters. But I'm not sure. I want to say, "Dear, you shouldn't have." But another part of me can't wait to make some squares. Then there's another part that worries "What if it isn't a mix master?" LOL.

Joy, my DH hasn't gone to the Pawn Shop yet, so there's nothing under the tree for me. :(
I have a Kitchen Aid mixer--and I LOVE it. It's really old, and I've beat it to death. I make everything with it----
I hope he didn't get you a power tool instead----:)
