MEETING YOUR GOALS

I've been struggling with my latest work in progress for a couple months. It just wasn't where I wanted it to be. There were times I seriously thought about giving up, writing that is. I read through the manuscript, deleted major portions, re-wrote, and deleted some more. Finally, and I emphasize the finally, today I finished editing and am ready to start writing new material. I added about one hundred words to the original word count, so I more than made up for the two thousand I cut. I don't think there is a better feeling than to be happy where you are. I remember the day I was so depressed when I cut over two thousand words. I remember thinking that day, I had lost an entire days worth of writing. But I also remember telling myself that same day, so what!  You'll be able to gain all those words, and this time you will be happy with them.
I'm not patting myself on the back, just excited that I reached a goal. Tomorrow is a brand new day, filled with new writing goals, and probably a few disappointments too.
My husband didn't realize what was going on in my "writing world" today, but he surprised me with a dozen red roses, "just because."
I hope you're sweetie surprises you today, and I hope your day is filled with meeting your goals. It's a great feeling.

My sweetie talked me into a "let's just read" day. So that's what we're doing. Stretched out on our prospective sofas reading. Ah, what a life!

I'm thrilled you reached your goal. I know what a wonderful feeling that is.

Congratulations! Cutting is a good thing. "Less is more" n' all that rot. If ya can say it in 8 words instead of 12 -

Editing my MS now. No rush, I'm out of town for another 7 or 8 months so it ain't like I'm gonna promote anything.

My sweetie is 300+ miles north this week. I'm lost.

I'm so glad you reached your much-sought-after goal. It's important to celebrate every success and cherish the incentive each one gives you. I'm working on a synopsis and query letter right now... they're definitely challenging but I'll eventually get them done.

I took my sweetie up on an invitation to accompany him on a drive today. It was a necessary errand for him but involved driving a fair distance so it was nice to be out together for the afternoon. (I'm writing tonight to make up for the time lost.)

Dave, I would be totally lost if my sweetie was 300 miles away--anywhere. He's a few miles away golfing----

Carol, I do the same thing, "try to make up for lost time." I'm so happy you were able to get away with your sweetie for a while. I wear a bracelet that is inscribed "Celebrate Small Victories"---I guess I need the reminder---
