MY THREE YEAR OLD SURGEON

Sitting at the breakfast table, facing Pikes Peak. The air is crisp and clean and two little arms are wrapped around my neck. I think I may be in heaven. If I had known Grandchildren were this special, I may have had them first. We don't get to see them often, so when we do, I try to get all the Nana time in I possibly can. I planned to sleep when they do, but they don't sleep at the same time. Jenna helps me make Jello and pudding. When I tried to make pudding by myself she warned me not to use milk but water. I said, "that's for Jello. You put water in Jello and milk in pudding." She looked at me like I had lost my mind, "Nana, milk is for oatmeal." Okay, okay, maybe I've forgotten a few things about the way three year olds think. Papa and I were watching, or should I say, trying to watch a movie the other night. Jenna asked her Dad if she could play a game on the computer. She was so quiet, I wanted to check it out. She was doing a surgical procedure for a knee surgery. I shouted to my son, "what are you teaching my Granddaughter." He replied, "Mom, it's a program for kids who might want to be doctors." With my eyes wide open, "She's three years old, shouldn't she be playing with dolls or coloring?" My son nodded and replied, "she does that too, until she gets bored." Great, I can't wait to come back to see which next surgical procedure she learns. Maybe Papa and I can just visit Jenna when we need a hip replaced. And at the rate she's going, she'll probably be the first six year old to perform the surgery.

Grandkids are great - ours are visiting in about 3 weeks. Isabel is 5 & Jack will turn 7 when he's here. (He wants a surfboard for his b'day.) When Jenna graduates to surgery on lower backs - call me. Nice to see you online. Enjoy your visit.

Dave, I'll let you know when Jenna can schedule your surgery! :D
I've been so busy writing. I'm also trying to find an agent. I had to give up something--so it's been my blog and Facebook and Twitter. They are great time robbers---I do miss writing my blog--miss talking to my writing buddies too! Have fun with your grans!!! They are fabulous!

Karen, I have tears in my eyes every time I start to think about leaving my baby girls. Jenna is 3 and Leah is 1. I am missing so much, but know they are well taken care of. I miss all of them---my son, d-i-l and the girls!
I am so happy your grandson is so close----you can visit often. Our visits are by phone---:D
Keep in touch my sweet friend.

Katt - You gotta get set up with Skype! It's free as long as you have the gizmo for the computer. We spent Christmas with the little ones online. It wasn't like the real deal but it was better than just via phone.

(I'm going to post a video of our grandkids on Facebook from last summer's visit. I think you'll laugh. Hint: Isabel tends to be a "tattle tale" & Jacks ain't so great at acting innocent.)

Dave, you make me laugh! I think Jack and Isabel remind me a lot of you! ha ha. Can't wait to see the video---I'll tell my son---maybe he can fix me up with Skype---he's the computer whiz in the family. Or maybe I should just ask Jenna! :D

Welcome back to the blogosphere, Katt. I've missed your cheery posts!

Grandchildren help us stay young! Unfortunately mine all live in different cities so we don't get together as often as I'd like, but, as Dave says, the computer's webcam is a reasonable substitute. I use either Skype or iChat. Some days when I'm working away on my laptop suddenly my daughter or 5-year-old granddaughter will pop in to interrupt and say hello. I love it! Children growing up in a computer-savvy family certainly have a head start in this technological age.

Carol, I know what you mean about technological age, but it's pretty pathetic when my 3 year old granddaughter knows more about the computer than I do! :D
I've missed you my friend. I guess I've been working too hard. Doing research to find an agent. I have "sucker" stamped on my forehead, so I have to be careful!

Kids are so smart these days. Maybe it's all the vitamins we give them. :)

Goodness, I'd almost forgotten how much I miss your "grandchildren" stories. This one is delightful!

Susan,
My son asked Jenna the other day how she got so smart. She said, "genetics". Is that rude or what????

Joy,
You're lucky you only have to "read about them." If we met face to face I would be pulling their portfolio's out of my purse! ha ha
Love you
Katt
